The Real Housewife of the Safari

by brittney

Third outfit in and I’m already running out of non-bodycon items. I know, I know judge all you want but that’s simply the dynamics of my wardrobe. Anywho, it was hot as shit outside and I pretty much didn’t want anything to touch my skin so, out comes my eShakti dress. I got this dress sometime last year and this is only my second time wearing it. It reminds me of something a 50s housewife would wear but it also has the essence of a chic Safarian chick, hence the title. This dress didn’t need much so I threw it multi-textured accessories, my Tom Ford cat eye glasses and a bright, funky shoe. Voila!!

Bell, Bustle & Body-Con

by brittney

A few weeks ago I had a conversation with a friend who’s convinced that my blog does not showcase a wide enough range of silhouettes. This is true. It’s not secret that I love body-con; It makes up 90 percent of my wardrobe therefor it makes up 90% of my blog content. I was perfectly fine with that up until I started looking back at previous posts. I do own pieces that aren’t fitted but wearing tight shit just seems so much more me, simply put. So, I folks I’m challenging myself to create different silhouettes that does not include body-con. *tear* I’m going to attempt try really hard to see this through for how ever long it will last. We shall see…

I wore this Chiquita Banana inspired look out the other day when temperature reached the triple digits here in Chicago. The skirt is 100% silk and practically feels like nothing so it was a no-brainer to wear it on such a hot day. Because I’m such a genius I decided to get my hair styled with a bang during the summer… yeah. I refused to deal with a bang sticking to my forehead all day so I’ve been playing with different ways to remain cool and cute without looking like a banshee. This turban is super easy and adds an extra pop to even the most basic outfits. You will see this alot!

Silk Pefection

by brittney

Last week I finally got the chance to wear my amazing silk skirt from eShakti. I wore it to the Boom In The Trunk event organized by Tiffany and I have to say it was perfect for the occasion. This leather jacket is easily the best thing I’ve ever gotten from eBay! I love the contrast of the soft, flowy skirt mixed with the heavy, industrial jacket. This may be my favorite look that I’ve posted thus far.

I’m so happy to have met the other bloggers in attendance as well as the many readers. Tiffany put together such an amazing and well organized event. Kudos to her!!! All in all I met tons of people, danced obnoxiously to Samwell and had a few margaritas… making it a perfect night!

Wild Child

by brittney

Today marked the first day I went out since I got back from New York a week ago (I LOVE being unemployed). As soon as I stepped outside I wanted to do nothing more but turn my ass around and go back in the house. Chicago heat is unbearable!!! OK, that’s a bit of an exaggeration but I don’t like heat. Not only does hot weather increase my chances of having chub rub but it also sweats my edges which is a problem.

Nothing here goes together and I love it! I recently watched the entire Sex and the City series and saw Carrie in her prime which brought forth tons of inspiration. This skirt if one of my favorites. I got it from eShakti a few months ago and had been itching to wear it. However, there are a few things that annoy me about it. For one, the material is so unforgiving that a single drop of pop (soda) can end up looking a a grease stain. Another thing that bothers me is the fact that there are no belt loops in the back. In the pictures my belt is clearly out of place because the only loops are on the sides towards the front. I recently got the top from the ASOS (main range) sale and the shoes are from Topshop. So yeah…
