Light Up the Night

by brittney

I’m a self proclaimed Google master, expert if I may. So, when it came to dressing for a 70s party the first place I hit for references was Google. I was thinking Donna Summer and disco, you know shit like that. What I got was tie-dye and bell bottoms, which are two things I don’t own. So, there I was lost and staring blankly at my closet an hour before the party began. Eventually, I gave in to my age old saying, ‘when in doubt wear sequins‘ and did just that. I started the look with this amazing sequin skirt for Avenue and went from there. I wanted to be comfortable and what’s more comfortable than a t-shirt and a hoody? Both pieces were five dollar scores from the Urban Outfitters outlet store. To complete this glam, sporty mesh I added my Topshop sneaker wedges in along with my favorite leather jacket from eBay.

lazy girl fashions.

by brittney

I’ve been ridiculously lazy this week and I’m totally ok with that. My life these past few days have consisted of jeans, t-shirts and my trusty, dusty chambray shirt. So, when it came to my weekly diner date with the bew I was so not in the mood to be ‘dressed’. We settled for a more casual dining environment and I ended up wearing this I’m-sorta-kinda-but-not-really-dressed look. I’ve had this dress for over a year and I’m beyond obsessed with it. As shown here it can easily be dressed up or down. This jacket is surprisingly from Lane Bryant and I can easily admit that I don’t wear it much. It’s one of the pieces in my wardrobe that I forget about quite easily. I was not in the mood to straighten my hair hence the hat and these perfect, chartreuse shoes were a no brainer.

What do you wear when you’re feeling lazy???

Glow In the Dark

by brittney

I’m convinced that when the Color Gods were formulating colors I came to mind when they made chartreuse. Nothing or no one can stop me from believing that fact! When I saw the Louboutin Pigalle 120 in chartreuse my heart fluttered in delight but then reality hit. It’s no secret that I can’t fit designer shoes (I wear an 11 and their 11s fit more like a 9.5) but on top of that I fail at walking in platform-less shoes. So, I erased the shoes out of my memory or tried. But then people, ShoeMint decided to make their own chartreuse, patent leather, 4.25 inch pump that just so happened to have no damn platform. So, I ordered them… judge all you want but I figured it’s best to have an $80 dollar shoes that you can’t walk in than a $700 dollar shoes that you can’t walk in. They arrived and were nothing short of perfect and to top it off there weren’t as uncomfortable as I thought they’d be. Winning.

I got these leggings from ASOS over a month ago and I’ve already worn them three times. They’re perfect… well, somewhat. One thing I expect when buying pants that aren’t made of a thick/heavy fabric is some wicking (those little lint balls that form of knit garments after some time) and maybe a little thinning of the material. Upon my initial inspection I noted that the sequins were attached with very delicate threads which made me question the durability. Sure enough the first time I wore them there was a trail of sequins behind me because of my thighs rubbing. I expected that so it was no biggie. However, the second time I wore them I did a ton of walking and the sequins ended up tearing into the fabric on the opposite thigh, leaving a hole. I was disappointed that there was a hole in my new $60 dollar leggings but I became pissed when the sequins scratched at my inner thigh leaving broken skin. It was like chub-rub times 10. Don’t get me wrong I still love the leggings, obviously because I’m wearing them for a third time but I do feel that ASOS could do a bit better with the construction next time.

This look is pretty basic but I did want to show what the leggings looked like on since I received a few emails about them. I also wanted to show off my new, amazing shoes. There’s no crime in that right?

Polka & Dots

by brittney

I’ve been itching to wear this skirt for the longest and finally got the chance when I went for a bite to eat with friends. The underskirt/lining that ASOS put in with the skirt was extremely too short for me so I added my own. The polka dot on polka dot combo is fun, quirky and slightly unexpected. Here you have a romantic-ish skirt that many probably over-think/over-style with a casual cotton tee that’s typically worn with jeans; the result of the two combined is perfect. The chartreuse belt adds interest and a fun pop of color.

2-3

by brittney

I’ve been waiting for the perfect tuxedo blazer for what seems like all of my life and last week I finally found it. I wasted no time in ordering it and miraculously it arrived on my birthday (5/15). You will see tons more of this blazer. I’ve searched long and hard for it and I feel the need to over-wear it. The rest of the outfit was pretty casual due to the fact that I was only going to brunch.

More to come.
